School Group visits to Nutcote,

home and garden of May Gibbs, creator of The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie

Location

Nutcote is situated at 5 Wallaringa Avenue, Neutral Bay – 15 minutes by ferry from Circular Quay.

Opening Times

Nutcote is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11.00am-3pm

Tour Times

You should allow a minimum of 1 ½ hours for your tour of the house and garden. If you have ordered refreshments, you will need to allow additional time. Additional time is required for groups of 15 or more.

Admission and charges

Please note that a group visit to Nutcote is limited to a maximum of 60 persons. The admission price is $3.00 per child and $5.00 per adult. (Teachers and carers are admitted up to ratio of 10:1 children in their care - thereafter an admission charge of $5.00 per head applies). The price includes a video presentation, a conducted tour of Nutcote and access to the gardens.

Nutcote Gift Shop

The Nutcote Gift Shop specializes in May Gibbs’ merchandise including books, gifts and souvenirs.

Refreshments

Nutcote volunteers can provide a light lunch, tea, coffee and cold drinks at the Bib and Bub Tea-room. Please ensure that you confirm your refreshment requirements when booking.

Getting to Nutcote by Public Transport

Ferry: Nestled on the harbour at Neutral Bay, Nutcote is easily accessible by public transport with regular ferry services from Circular Quay. Nutcote is signposted from the Neutral Bay ( Hayes Street) ferry wharf. Please check the ferry timetable for up to date information or phone Transport Infoline 131500.

Bus (Route 225) – There is a ferry-link service from Neutral Bay Junction ( Wycombe Rd/Military Rd) every 30 minutes. Full timetable information from Transport Infoline 131500. Alight at Kurraba Road and continue down Wycombe Rd, keeping to the left to Wallaringa Avenue – about a 5 minute walk.

Getting to Nutcote by car

Nutcote does not have a visitor car park and visitors are advised that vehicle parking is limited, especially at weekends. There is very limited parking on nearby streets.

Getting to Nutcote by Coach

Wallaringa Ave is a short and narrow one-way thoroughfare that is not suitable for Buses or Coaches. A special Bus/Coach drop-off point is signposted at the bottom of Wycombe Rd near the junction of Wallaringa Ave. Nutcote is a 2 minute walk from the drop-off point.
